  • Dr. Russ Acevedo explains how a new program underway at his hospital will markedly improve care for COPD patients by expanding the role of the RT in this article in the Syracuse, NY, Post-Standard. Renee Bear is noted for already making home visits in conjunction with the initiative. (We’ll have more on this exciting new program in an upcoming issue of AARC Times.)

  • Tish Harkey is pictured in this article in the Charlotte, NC, Observer about a farmer’s market that sets up on her hospital’s lawn. An RT since 1972, Tish says she appreciates the opportunity to eat healthy. “I am usually out there for lunch whenever my schedule coincides with the farmer’s market,” she tells us.

  • Ted Lanier is noted for his promotion to director of respiratory therapy in this article in the Helena, MT, Independent Record.

  • Ed Coombs is featured for starting a scholarship to honor the memory of Robert Councilman, an AARC member who passed away suddenly last year, in this article in the Update Medical University Alumni Connection. “Bob was my lifelong friend—I also referred to him as my surrogate big brother,” Ed was quoted as saying. “He was an example to students of what it means to be an outstanding respiratory therapist.” (Read more about this new scholarship and how it came about in an upcoming issue of AARC Times.)

  • Tyler Kauffman and Tomi Blanchard are noted for placing first and second in a poster contest held by their RT program in this article in the Parkland College Prospectus News out of Illinois. Jennifer Compton was one of the judges. Jennifer was recently featured along with program professor Terry Des Jardins on this great billboard highlighting graduates of the program as well.
