  • Pam Rangen answers a reader’s question about her son’s severe asthma in this article in the Bismarck, ND, Tribune. “People with severe persistent asthma often develop a thickening of the smooth muscle lining the airways. Not only do they have too much muscle, it’s also twitchy,” she writes.
  • George Gaebler is noted for his election to AARC president-elect in this article in the Syracuse, NY, Post-Standard.
  • Michael Monasky writes about legislation to control health care costs in this article in the Sacramento, CA, Metro News & Review. “One-third of the California budget goes to health care costs, so something must be done to improve outcomes in public health,” he notes. (Michael will be sharing a story about an asthma camp he worked at last summer in an upcoming issue of AARC Times as well.)

  • Lori True’s son Brady is featured for winning the Kansas Voice of Democracy award sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in this article in the Salina, KS, Journal. Brady is a high school senior who is currently working part time as a nurse’s aide at his mom’s hospital to prepare for a career in health care.
  • Christy Kane talks about her campus’s newly renovated health science building in this article in the Louisville, KY, Courier-Journal. “This facility is on full par with advanced training baccalaureate programs nationally, and our students and the patients they care for in the future will benefit,”
