Larry Barrett, who has just been named chair of a neighborhood association in Des Moines, IA, shares his goals for the group in this article in the Des Moines Register.
Jana Waggoner is featured for teaching school children about tobacco prevention in this article in the Greene County, IN, Daily World. “We go into the classrooms and talk about the different types of tobacco… and we also give them tips on how to say no,” she was quoted as saying.

Will Beachey receives kudos for being named a Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care at the recent AARC Congress in this article on the KXMB-TV Web site out of North Dakota.
Jay Hodge comments on the phase out of CFC inhalers in this article in the Indianapolis, IN, Star, advising patients to check their inhalers for the letters “HFA” to ensure they have the correct prescription going forward. The local TV station also ran a piece about the switch that was filmed at his hospital.

Patrice Pratoomratana is the go-to person for information about a recent study on “third hand smoke” – defined as the toxic chemicals left after the smoke from a cigarette blows away – in this article on the KIDK-TV Web site out of Idaho Falls, ID. “You smell it but you don't see anything; it’s on the walls, on the floors, on your clothes and your hair,” she was quoted as saying.

Jay Taylor is noted for his recent appointment to a state tobacco prevention advisory board in this article on the KXMC-TV Web site out of North Dakota. And last but not least, two Sputum Bowl teams from North Carolina are congratulated for their recent participation in the national event in two articles: this one on the WNCT-TV Web site out of Greenville and this one in the Greenville Daily Reflector. Angela Chapman, Rachel Clifford, and Niya Hagans are noted for taking third place in the Student Bowl, while Rusty Sugg, Wayne Tainor, and Ray Braxton, who competed in the National Bowl, are mentioned for their participation. Wendy Ayscue, who was on the practitioner team but could not make the meeting, is quoted in both of the stories.
