  • Dan Wagner and his whole community honor Dan’s brother Greg in this article in the Sioux Falls, SD, Argus Leader. Greg lost his life three years ago while serving in Iraq.
  • Jeff Curran is featured for saving a woman’s life while on a business trip to Las Vegas in this article in the Albany, NY, Business Review. According to the CPR instructor and part-time RT, it was the first time he’d ever used his medical skills outside the hospital.
  • Missy Collins comments in this article on the WDEF-TV web site out of Chattanooga, TN, about community college students who plan to go on and get their bachelor’s degrees.
  • RTs at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital are noted for their role in helping move patients into a brand new NICU in this article in the Cleveland, OH, Plain Dealer. AARC President Tim Myers, who heads up the RT department, was proud of his staff – especially Amanda Lancaster, who designed a special t-shirt for moving day with the inscription, “Moving Across the Bridge to our new NICU/Spring 2009.”
  • Conrad Colby is noted for being named to the American Lung Association of Idaho’s board of directors in this article in the Idaho Statesman.
  • Mark Pollard gets a mention in this article about his wife Cindy, a successful public relations professional in California, in the Bakersfield Californian.
  • John Priest credits his mother-in-law with getting him interested in a health care profession in this article in the Andover, MA, Townsman. John just graduated with his RT degree and already has a job lined up at Boston Medical Center.
  • Karen Kofalt comments on her hospital’s new pavilion in this article in the Philadelphia, PA, Business Journal. The director of RT and special projects explains each room is divided into three zones: one for the patient, one for staff, and one for the family. “If you can involve the family in the care, studies show, patients heal quicker and go home faster,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Lisa Trujillo talks about her latest medical mission to Ghana in this article released by the Ghana News Agency. You can read more about Lisa and colleague Janelle Gardiner’s work in your December 2007 issue of AARC Times.
  • Angela Lindale and Lynnette Klopp are noted as the contact people for an asthma camp sponsored by their hospital in this article in the Delaware Cape Gazette. They and their colleagues raise money throughout the year for scholarships for kids who want to attend but can’t afford the registration fee.
  • Alex Wynn and John Bridges are featured in this article in the Portales, NM, News-Tribune about a new asthma education program that uses RTs to provide instruction to adults and kids with the condition.

Noting it was the first time the hospital had applied for the award, Marketing Director Frank Martinez was quoted as saying, “We’re trying not only to improve the quality, but document that quality. If there’s a benchmark for a department, we’re going to try to meet it and exceed it.”
  • CMH Regional Health System/Clinton Memorial Hospital in this article in the Wilmington, OH, News Journal.
  • Bellevue Hospital in this article in the Fremont, OH, News Messenger. “I am proud of our talented staff and their commitment to the delivery of quality respiratory care,” Cardiopulmonary Director Margaret Schaffter was quoted as saying.
  • Stormont-Vail HealthCare in this article in the Topeka, KS, Capital Journal.
