Local Therapist Honored by National Respiratory Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas, TX (December 17, 2012) —The American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF) honored Christine Kearney, RRT, with the CareFusion Fellowship for Neonatal and Pediatric Therapists at a recent award ceremony held in New Orleans, LA at the largest national meeting of respiratory therapists held each year.
Kearney, who is from Vero Beach, FL and is employed by Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, received the honor. The award granted by the ARCF was established in 2001 and is designed to foster projects in the field of neonatal and pediatric critical care. Projects involving original research in mechanical ventilation are considered in the selection process.

Respiratory therapists are specialized health care providers who take care of people with lung conditions ranging from asthma to COPD. They work throughout the acute care hospital on the general wards, in the emergency department, and in the intensive care units, and are also increasingly employed in sleep centers, physician offices, outpatient clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, skilled nursing facilities, and patients’ homes.
