(November 12, 2010) – Do you ever stop to think about breathing? Or
think about how your lungs are doing? If you're one of the millions
of Americans who have lung conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, sleep-disordered breathing,
you think about breathing a lot.
On December 9 at The Boulevard
Mall, 3528 S. Maryland Pkwy , Las Vegas from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., the American
Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) will host Your Lung Health,
a public forum for those who want to learn more about their lungs. The
event occurs during the International Respiratory Congress slated for
December 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center .
“The Congress is like no
other gathering of respiratory experts in the world,” says Melaine Giordano,
MS, RN, CPFT, co-organizer of the public forum. “Our therapists will
share their expertise at the Boulevard Mall with the very patients and
families we serve, those suffering from respiratory diseases.”
”We believe this event in Las
Vegas will help educate the healthy public as well as those dealing
with lung disease learn more about important ways to live well with
respiratory conditions,” adds Tom Kallstrom, MBA, RRT, FAARC and chief
operating officer of the AARC.
Respiratory Therapists
(RTs) are licensed health care professionals. RTs assist physicians
by providing diagnostic, treatment and management services to patients
with respiratory conditions. RTs provide these services in hospitals,
outpatient centers, physicians' offices, skilled nursing facilities
