AARC is a Partner in the Year of the Lung initiative. We have joined in a movement with other pulmonary organizations around the world in one mission: to educate and promote lung care initiatives. June—Traveling with Pulmonary DiseaseJune 6, 2010 Many of our chronic lung patients will be heading out on vacations this month, and whether the problem is asthma, COPD, or another respiratory condition, they’ll need to keep their lung disease in mind as they pack for the trip. Of course, in all the excitement, folks often forget about their condition—or decide to take a vacation from the care plan it requires as well. Next thing they know, their fabulous vacation is detoured to the nearest emergency room. We can make sure that doesn’t happen by talking with our patients about how important it is to maintain their same medication regimen and care plan even while they are off visiting friends and relatives or just having fun. And for our patients on oxygen, we can help them find the right equipment to make air travel possible. These resources can help— Do It
