The AARC has just formed a new Roundtable on Simulations. Individuals joining community will be discussing ideas related to the use of patient simulations in respiratory care education.

Julianne Perretta, MSEd, RRT-NPS, has been tapped to head the new Roundtable. Perretta is the Simulation Educator for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Simulation Center in Baltimore, MD. It is a 10,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility that serves the entire Johns Hopkins community. Perretta’s responsibilities include developing simulation curriculum, building and testing scenarios, and training simulation users on high-quality debriefing skills. She has presented at regional, national, and international conferences on how to produce high quality respiratory simulations. She has also developed curriculum and acted as a consultant for many aspects of respiratory simulation, including usability testing of devices, testing new procedures, skills training for “novices”, training for emergencies, and teamwork training.

Those who join the new Roundtable on AARConnect will be helping to guide future formalized training for respiratory care practitioners using patient simulation, aid the AARC in bringing formalized recommendations to the Simulation Alliance Task Force, participate in a forum for asking questions regarding simulation curriculum development and utilization, and collaborate on multi-centered simulation research and training for respiratory care practitioners.

All of the AARC’s Roundtables are open to any AARC member at no extra charge. And now they are all housed on the Association’s new social media site, AARConnect. To join:
