First Five Spring Bulletins Online Now

The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care/Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Spring issues of their Bulletins. Here are your direct links:

Adult Acute Care: Section Chair Keith Lamb previews some interactive features coming soon to AARConnect in his “Notes” column, and we also have great articles on phrenic nerve pacing and liquid ventilation.

Continuing Care/Rehabilitation: Interesting reports from the medical literature, an update on respiratory medications, and a new resource from The Joint Commission take center stage here. Section Chair Debbie Koehl rounds out the issue with an update on section activities.

Diagnostics: This issue features a great article on the psychological causes of habit cough, and Section Chair Matt O’Brien shares the results of his informal HAST survey. Matt also updates us on the diagnostics proposals for the 2011 Congress and Editor Rick Weaver weighs in with a “Notes” column aimed at encouraging more members to contribute to the Bulletin.

Education: Section Chair Robert Fluck relates a great story about why RTs need to educate physicians as well as patients in his “Notes” column and Chair Lynda Goodfellow offers a first look at the results of her recent survey on student engagement in hers. Jim Allen caps off the issue with another cartoon that’ll brighten your day.

Home Care: The value of home care RTs under health care reform is highlighted in three great articles here, with an empasis on the therapist's role as a game changer in helping acute care hospitals avoid costly readmissions.

The remaining Specialty Section Bulletins— Long Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport—will publish their Spring editions next month.
