The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care/Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Fall issues of their Bulletins.

Here are your direct links to these informative publications:

Adult Acute Care: Section Chair Keith Lamb takes a provocative look at the art and science of respiratory care, and we also have an article on how bedside shift reports are promoting teamwork in one facility. Rounding out the issue is a great review of therapeutic hypothermia.

Continuing Care/Rehabilitation: This issue kicks off with more about the latest developments in CMS reimbursement for pulmonary rehabilitation from Section Chair Debbie Koehl and AARC Director of Regulatory Affairs Anne Marie Hummel. Debbie has news about other section activities as well. From there, you can read a great story on helping patients with their prescription drug costs, plus our usual columns on articles of interest from the journals, FDA drugs for pulmonary patients, Joint Commission news, and patient and staff educational opportunities.

Diagnostics: Two articles here address ways to improve your pulmonary lab. First, Section Chair Matt O’Brien offers strategies to keep your lab viable in these changing times, then we have a great article that outlines one member’s vision of the ideal pulmonary lab from a staffing point of view. The issue closes out with a review of asthma and its relationship to sickle cell disease and acute chest syndrome.

Education: Editor Bob Fluck turns a critical eye toward PBL, while Section Chair Lynda T. Goodfellow provides an update on recent section activities, including some news about the next steps being taken in the 2015 and Beyond project. The issue also includes both of the abstracts that were presented at the AARC Summer Forum in July. Jim Allen’s latest cartoon is in the mix too, and is sure to leave everyone smiling.

Home Care: This issue includes a great overview of a recent symposium on LTOT, plus a look at a home care company that’s decided to invest in the next generation of RTs by setting up a clinical rotation for students from two local colleges.

The remaining five Specialty Section Bulletins—Long Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport—will publish their Fall editions soon.
