  • Dolly Kervitsky is noted as the newly appointed vice president of patient relations for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in this press release on PRNewswire. “Ms. Kervitsky’s contributions to the pulmonary fibrosis community have been enormous, as evidenced by her impressive history at National Jewish Health and co-authorship of the New England Journal of Medicine paper released today,” Foundation President and CEO Daniel M. Rose, was quoted as saying. The study he refers to, “A Common MUC5B Promoter Polymorphism is Associated with Pulmonary Fibrosis” discusses new genetic findings.
  • Randy Romero is interviewed about his independent diagnostic testing facility in this article in the Mail Tribune out of Southern Oregon. “What I like about respiratory therapy is the diagnostic part. That’s what sparked me to go into business for myself,” he told the reporter.
  • Deborah Pierce talks about the latest “challenge” being undertaken by her pulmonary rehab patients in this article in the Battle Creek, MI, Enquirer. This year, they’re “climbing” Mount Everest.   • Marla Reneau comments about a former boss who was just named a YWCA Salute Honoree in this article in the Canton, OH, Daily Ledger. “This award is a wonderful honor for a lady that has made healthcare her profession and her passion. Even after retiring she continued to help people in her community,” Marla was quoted as saying.
  • Cheri Pfahler is noted for her new position as neonatal and pediatric cardiopulmonary manager in this article in the Daily Journal out of Johnson County, IN.
  • Allen Barbaro comments on the great career opportunities available in respiratory care in this article in the Sioux City, IA, Journal. “The need for respiratory therapists is expected to increase between 18 percent to 26 percent in the next eight years,” he was quoted as saying.
  • Tina Louise Moreno talks about what to do before beginning an exercise regimen in this article in the Desert Sun out of California. Moreno is part of the newspaper’s Health Family Project team and has been featured in several similar articles over the course of the year.   • Air Force Staff Sgt. Napolean Gifford comments on the work done by his air medical transport team in Afghanistan in this article on the Department of Defense website. “These guys are risking their lives for us, and we have to get them back to their families safely,” he was quoted as saying. “That is the very least we can do for them.”
