  • Bob Wolken talks about a simple alarm device he devised that helped cut aspiration pneumonia cases in half in his hospital in this video on PBS News Hour. The device alerts nurses when patients lie below 30 degrees in the bed.
  • Madhuri Singal is noted for authoring a new research volume on nanoparticles and lung effects in this press release on PRNewswire. You can read more about Madhuri and her role as manager of the Respiratory Science Program at the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, Inc. in your May 2009 issue of AARC Times.
  • Bob McCoy and Cheryl Sasse share their memories of Marty Lannon, an emphysema patient who passed away in June, in this article in the Prior Lake, MN, American. More than 1,300 people turned out for the funeral to pay testament to this patient who never let his respiratory condition stand in the way of living his life.

  • Christopher Holwey is noted for coming up with a fun card game for kids at an asthma camp in his community in this article in the Joliet, IL, Herald-News. “It was a deck of 52 cards and he talked about everything: dust mites, dander, mold, extremes in temperatures, cold and flu and even emotions,” camp coordinator Julie Edwards was quoted as saying.
  • Howard Ingham IV comments on the respiratory effects of a fire burning in his part of the country in this article in the Daytona Beach, FL, News-Journal. “Any patient I see, I’m telling them to stay inside,” he was quoted as saying. “This is not a good situation for anyone.”
