  • A new pulmonary rehabilitation center at Stan Joyce’s hospital is the topic of this article in the Hi-Desert Star out of California.
  • Jane Matsui was surprised by this on-air phone call from DJs at Star 104.5 in Omaha, NE. The radio station is running a Wonder Woman series where people can nominate amazing women in their lives, and one of Jane’s cystic fibrosis patients wrote in about the compassionate care she receives from her RT.
  • Melissa Richardson comments in this article about her transport program in the Odessa, TX, American. “Our main goal is just being there quicker,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Debbie Marckese sent us this video aired by the NBC affiliate out of Philadelphia, PA, about her transport program’s new pediatric ambulance. RTs are noted as key members of the pediatric transport team.
  • Becky Prenton talks about education delivered with the help of her hospital’s medical simulators in this article in the Vacaville, CA, Reporter. “It helps to reinforce what you're actively learning in a lecture,” she was quoted as saying. “It also helps identify problems in the process.”
  • Valerie Davis is noted as co-chair of a “campus challenge” to get hospital staff to add their names to the Texas organ and tissue donor registry in this article in The Tribune out of the northeastern Houston suburbs. Fifty-five employees recently signed up.
  • Clifton Dennis comments in this article in the Augusta, GA, Chronicle about a proposed city ordinance to extend the state smoking ban to bars and restaurants, noting that while businesses may feel a burden at first, “in the long run they will see the benefit.” Clifton chairs the local Asthma Coalition, which is working with other community partners to pass the ordinance.
  • Barry Holloway gives high marks to a new pedestrian bridge that just opened in his hometown in this article in the Little Rock, AR, Republic. “I think it's going to open up a lot of trails to people and get a lot more folks out here now,” the avid bicyclist was quoted as saying.
  • Maria Cuartas comments on a newly opened pediatric hospital in her neighborhood that initially received some criticism from neighbors in this article in the Sun-Sentinel out of South Florida. An RT at the facility, she had no problems with it. “I went through the whole construction and of course it was loud and everything at the beginning, but it's an expansion for more jobs and better care for children,” she was quoted as saying.
