• Steve Sittig explains the intricacies involved in transferring a ventilator patient to a new facility in this article on the CBS News website about a patient who died after being moved from a charity hospital to a nursing home. The Associated Press story appeared in a number of other publications around the country as well, including Forbes and Business Week. Steve, who is chair of the AARC’s Transport Section, landed the interview after the AP called the AARC asking for an expert who could speak to the issue.

• Diane Rhodes talks about the environmental intervention/asthma awareness program she runs for the North East Independent School District in San Antonio, TX, in this article in Allergy & Asthma Today. “It’s all about student performance, attendance, and quality of life,” she was quoted as saying.

• Danielle Sterling explains how her brother-in-law Aaron, who passed away from cystic fibrosis in August, inspired her to become an RT in this article in the Portland, ME, Daily Sun. “When I met Tyler, my husband, seeing Aaron in the hospital going through everything he was going through, I changed my career,” she was quoted as saying. Portland recently honored Aaron’s memory by dedicating its second annual 65 Roses 5K Race in his memory.
