AARC Participated in HCC Meeting

The AARC was represented at the most recent meeting of the Hospital Care Collaborative (HCC).

Meeting in March, Sam Giordano, AARC CEO, and Tom Kallstrom, AARC COO, participated with leaders from other organizations. Members of the HCC include the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Social Work Leadership in Health Care, Case Manager Society of America, as well as the AARC. The group was founded with these six organizations in 2009.

“These organizations make up the core of hospital-based care,” said Kallstrom. He noted that issues surrounding workforce, teamwork, and team-based care were discussed. “These continue to be important issues for hospitals and the role of teams will only grow in importance as health care delivery and payment models evolve.”

As the groups discuss these concepts they have noted that effective teams will be critical in this transition and that participation of each team member in important to improving outcomes.
