Respiratory therapists who came to Washington, D.C. on behalf of the profession and the pulmonary patients had a great and successful Capitol Hill Lobby Day. We gained 17 new co-sponsors for our Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative, HR 941.

HR 941 will permit qualified respiratory therapists to work in a physician’s office without the doctor being on site. This sounds like a small thing, but it’s not. It provides much greater flexibility for physicians to hire RTs and opens the door for patients to have far greater access to the services of RTs.

And we’ve gained this momentum not only because RTs came to DC to lobby for support but because RTs, patients and caregivers sent in over 12,000 emails asking for support of our Initiative.

Know that when combined with the PACT Hill Lobby Day and all the emails from RTs, RT students, friends, and patients our message is getting through to the Congress. It’s working.

But we need to keep the momentum going! And the best way to keep up this momentum, to keep the Hill interested is to keep the emails going using Capitol Connection.
