AARC Learns of DOL Portal Site

AARC has been made aware of a new portal for health care jobs launched by the Department of Labor. “Respiratory Therapist” is among the careers that are featured on the site.

The online platform—called the Virtual Career Network—was funded by the 2009 federal economic stimulus package. DOL’s Employment and Training Administration sponsored the development of the online tool, with support from the American Association of Community Colleges.

According to DOL, current and prospective health care workers can use the Virtual Career Network to:

• Find information on more than 80 health care occupations
• Look up local education and training programs
• Search current health care job listings
• Take online courses
• Find sources for financial aid
