Five Fall Section Bulletins Online Now

The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care/Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Fall issues of their Bulletins. Here are your direct links to these informative publications:

Adult Acute Care: Chair Keith Lamb addresses professionalism in his Notes column, and we have a great article on esophageal pressure monitoring that will bring everyone up to date on this new technique to guide ventilation management in patients with ARDS/ALI.

Continuing Care/Rehabilitation: CDC recommendations on adult immunizations, news about an alternative accreditation agency, and articles of interest from the journals highlight this edition. Chair Debbie Koehl also updates us on recent AARC activities that are impacting our specialty.

Diagnostics: Chair Matt O’Brien provides a great overview of diagnostics presentations lined up for AARC Congress 2012 in New Orleans, and we also have part 2 of our look at smoking cessation in the mentally ill. Editor Lisa Becker provides a wonderful overview of nasal rinses and the problems associated with them that we should all be noting to our patients as well.

Education: Editor Robert Fluck relates a personal experience in his Notes column that emphasizes the need for lung health education outside of the work environment, and Chair Joe Sorbello encourages more people to get involved in writing for the Bulletin in his. Joe also reviews a couple of recent articles on teams that may be useful as you work to ensure your students are prepared to participate on multidisciplinary teams at work.

Home Care: Part 2 of our series on health coaching joins an informative article from a health care attorney on marketing, joint ventures, and arrangements with referral sources. We round out the issue with a story from an AARC member who is currently delivering home respiratory services on the Madeira Islands off the coast of North Africa.

The remaining five Specialty Section Bulletins—Long Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport—will publish their Fall editions next month.
