  • Ronda Passon touts the importance of organ donors and their families in this article in USA Today about the upcoming Olympic-style Transplant Games of America in Grand Rapids, MI. Ronda speaks from experience: 11 years ago she received a lung transplant to treat her cystic fibrosis.

  • Gary Taylor shared his expertise in the area of sleep with a local Kiwanis Club in Sulphur, LA, a couple of weeks ago and the talk was covered in this article in the Sulphur Daily News. “We all sleep but the quality of the sleep is what makes a big difference,” he was quoted as saying.

  • Bob DeLorme explains the advantages of a career in respiratory care in this article in the Atlanta, GA, Journal Constitution. “You’ll always be learning in this field, because the technology keeps improving. We have incredible life-support and noninvasive diagnostic technologies today that are safer for the patient and help us make better decisions in care,” he was quoted as saying.

  • Clinical Excellence Awards went out to ten staff members at Indian River Medical Center in Indian River, FL, recently, and Rebecca Buchanan was one of them. This article in TC Palm says the awards acknowledge professional commitment, teamwork, clinical expertise, and positive communications skills.

  • The respiratory care program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has been recognized by CoARC for placing in the top 8% of programs in the U.S. Department Chair Donna “De De” Gardner credits her colleagues with making it happen in this article on MySA.com.  “I am very proud of their work this past year to exceed the respiratory care accreditation standards and outcome measures required by their accrediting agency,” she was quoted as saying.

  • This article in Inside Indiana Business covers the recent appointment of Dr. Kathleen Lee as chancellor of the Ivy Tech Community College’s Central Indiana region. In her new capacity, she will oversee the education of more than 30,000 students. Dr. Lee began her career as a critical care respiratory therapist at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

  • Michelle Whitt is one of several employees at Morgan County ARH Hospital who gave tours during the grand reopening of their facility this month. This article in Herald-Leader out of Kentucky covers the hospital’s restoration efforts after a tornado struck the building last March.
