First Five Winter Section Bulletins Online Now

The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care/Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Winter issues of their Bulletins. Here are your direct links to these informative publications:

Adult Acute Care: This issue kicks off with a closer look at our 2012 Specialty Practitioner of the Year and then follows with two great clinical articles. The first examines brain injury and neurologic critical care support while the second tackles reperfusion injury following lung transplantation.

Continuing Care/Rehabilitation: Notes columns from our outgoing chair, Debbie Koehl, and incoming chair, Gerilynn Connors, set the stage for 2013, as does a recap of the section meeting at AARC Congress 2012. We also have great articles on our 2012 Specialty Practitioner of the Year, a wonderful new program from the COPD Foundation that’s aimed at supporting PR programs, and the latest statistics on COPD from the CDC. We close out the issue with an update on accreditation.

Diagnostics: Outgoing Bulletin Editor Lisa Becker offers some parting thoughts in her Notes column, and Section Chair Matt O’Brien congratulates our 2012 Specialty Practitioner of the Year in his. Matt also shares two great articles. The first explains how to build an isothermal lung while the second covers options for integrating pulmonary lab data into the EMR. The issue comes to a close with Part 3 of our series on smoking cessation and the mentally ill.

Education: Editor Robert Fluck examines the qualities that make a good dean in his Notes column and our section chair, Joe Sorbello, covers recent section business in his. We also have a profile of our 2012 Educator of the Year, plus a great article on mentoring and another on email and how we can all put it to better use. Jim Allen’s cartoon will leave everyone with a smile on their faces.

Home Care: Section Chair Greg Spratt takes a look at the future of home care in his Notes column and also outlines a great offer for free section membership in another story. We round out the issue with a review of the home care presentations at AARC Congress 2012 and how they pointed up the important role respiratory therapists have to play transitioning patients from the hospital to the home.
