And the Winners Are…

Two lucky AARC members are surfing the web, reading books, playing games, and more on the go, thanks to the AARC membership contest. Jana Carlton, BS, RRT, just won the iPad in the second quarter drawing for renewing members, while Dang Quach, RRT, received the Kindle Fire in the drawing for new members.

A long-time member of the profession who first joined the AARC in 1984 because she thought it was important to support her professional organization, Carlton says she’s found a plethora of reasons to keep renewing in the years since.

“I like having access to the Respiratory Care journal and enjoy reading about what other RTs are doing in AARC Times,” says the staff therapist at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL, and clinical instructor in the RT program at Polk State College. “The educational meetings have also been a great benefit.” Carlton says she’s attended AARC webcasts through work and the Association’s Asthma Educator Prep Course and found both to be well organized and informative.

“The AARC does its best to support and promote our profession and I think it’s important for us to support the work that they do,” she continues. ”By joining, you have access to educational and career opportunities and show that you believe in our profession.

As a new member Dang Quach is already enjoying the benefits of membership, particularly those that come to him in an electronic format. “I love receiving regular emails from the AARC with the popular newsletter,” says the RRT II at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA. “I also get other emails reminding you about upcoming classes and events, government affairs news, special discount offers, and updates from your state society.”

Quach says his membership is allowing him to establishing better connections to other therapists who can help him with resources and advice as well. “That alone is worth my annual fees,” says the new member.

The membership contest runs through October, so we’ll have two more drawings for iPads and Kindle Fires. Be sure to get your renewals in asap to be in the running for the next iPad, and let your fellow RTs who have yet to join know that they could be the next Kindle Fire winner as well.
