AARC has been made aware of millions of dollars in asthma grants available from the Patient-Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI). They have up to $17 million for comparative effectiveness research focusing on reducing adverse asthma outcomes in the African-American and Hispanic/Latino populations.

PCORI was created through Congressional mandate in 2010. Their purpose is to fund and share research that compares the clinical effectiveness of various choices that patients and health care providers have when selecting care. They do this by funding and disseminating trustworthy research that is guided by the health care community.

Comparative clinical effectiveness research compares the health outcomes and clinical effectiveness or two or more medical treatments or services. In this opportunity, they are particularly looking for projects that test interventions to improve clinical and patient adherence to NAEPP guidelines.

The online system opens on July 1 with Letters of Intent due on August 1.
