Ever since the AARC got President Reagan to sign an official document proclaiming National Respiratory Care Week back in 1982, state societies around the country have urged their Governors to do the same.

David Gibson, RRT-NPS, RPFT, and his colleagues in the Arkansas Society for Respiratory Care reached out to Gov. Mike Beebe earlier this year, and were pleased to not only receive the signed proclamation, but also to get the chance for a photo op with the governor himself.

You can find the tools you need to request a signed proclamation from your own governor in our Respiratory Care Week Tool Kit—including a sample RC Week Proclamation you can use to craft one specific to your state.

You’ll find a wealth of other resources in the kit as well, such as an AARC Member PR Kit to help you publicize your proclamation (and other RC Week activities), stock photos to use when promoting your events, and some great AARC-related programs you can launch in honor of the week, such as Peak Performance USA, the High School Career Project, and DRIVE4COPD.

RC Week 2013 is coming up soon—Oct. 20–26—so if you haven’t already, start planning today!
