An AARC member was one of three who lost their lives in a Tennessee helicopter crash this morning, en route to pick up a boy who was in renal failure.

Denise Adams, RRT-NPS, an AARC member since 2005, was the respiratory therapist on that transport. Also killed were a nurse and the pilot.

The helicopter crashed around 6:20 a.m. near Somerville, TN about halfway to its destination. Ms. Adams worked at Memphis’ Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

“We are so saddened to learn of this loss, all the more poignant because it occurred during Respiratory Care Week,” said AARC President George Gaebler. “Our thoughts are extended to her home and work families and we recognize her as a true hero in this profession.”
