AARC members have been supporting the Alpha-1 Foundation for many years, and now they need our help more than ever!

Richard Johnson of St. Johns, FL, the father of two children with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, has been nominated for The NASCAR Foundation’s Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award. Johnson’s campaign to win the award can bring $100,000 for research and even more importantly, widespread awareness for Alpha-1.

Watch this short video about Johnson and his family, then go to the Alpha-1 Foundation website to cast your ballot. The winner is decided by the most votes – and anyone can vote once a day, every day till Dec. 5.

As you’ll see in the video, Johnson and his wife Sarah work hard to raise funds for research, hoping ultimately for a cure for the condition afflicting their children Grace, 7, and Lucas, 5. Johnson’s campaign for the award has sparked one of the largest public relations efforts ever in the Alpha-1 community.
