  • Paulette Bass comments on the importance of sleep in this article in the Fort Morgan, CO, Times. “It is not just the amount of sleep that is important for good health, but the right type of sleep is also needed for an individual to prevent some of these more serious health problems,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Luis Cruz is featured for earning the NBRC’s new Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) credential in this article on his hospital website. Luis’ manager, Terry Thompson, says Luis is always ready to go the extra mile for his patients. “He is extremely dedicated to his patients and to his work,” she was quoted as saying. “When natural disasters strike, he is here early with his bags packed, ready to camp out in the hospital.”
  • Pier Mangieri also received some great coverage for receiving the ACCS. His supervisor, Tim Howald, announced the accomplishment in this article on TCPalm.com out of Florida, noting Pier is the first RT on the Treasure Coast to earn the credential.
  • Matt Anderson became the proud father of the first baby to be born at his hospital in 2013, and the birth was the topic of this article in the Marshfield, WI, News Herald. Bethany Ruth Anderson arrived three days ahead of her due date at 12:38 p.m. on Jan. 1. Matt summed up his feelings about his new daughter in two simple words. “She’s perfect,” he was quoted as saying.
  • Sharon Sauser is one of several local clinicians to comment on the effect the flu is having on local health care facilities in this article in the Contra Costa Times out of Northern California. “We’re very, very busy,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Karen Gulich was just named director of respiratory care at the Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls, WI, and the new job was covered in this article in the area’s Leader-Telegram. “Karen has done a fantastic job as the lead respiratory therapist at the ventilator center,” Administrator Jeremy Kiley was quoted as saying. “She brings new energy and attention to detail, which will benefit both patients and staff.”
  • Willie Bailey participated in a rather unique delivery earlier this month as a group of local health professionals joined with veterinarians at Zoo Atlanta to help bring a newborn orangutan into the world. The birth was covered in this article on the CBS-TV website.
