  • Greg Paulauskis is retiring after 32 years as an educator at Great Falls College/Montana State University, and he is honored for the major contributions he made to the RT program there in this article on the college website. He first came to the school in 1981 to help start the program, and is leaving as division director of health sciences.
  • Justin Seemueller teamed up with some buddies to enter the Red Bull Creation challenge, a contest aimed at making something “awesome” using the company’s technology to control LED light strips, and their “Tic Tac Woah” game was named a finalist in the competition. The team received great coverage for their accomplishments in this article in the Newport News, VA, Daily Press.
  • R. David Johnson’s students recently took part in a pinning ceremony and the event was featured in this article on the Columbia State Community College website. “Each respiratory care student completed more than 1,000 hours of clinical practice at area hospitals,” David was quoted as saying.

  • Emily Brandt demonstrates bag-mask ventilation and chest compressions on an infant mannequin for high school students taking part in a Summer Health Institute in this video in the Monterey, CA, County Herald. “Ventilation is the most critical part for the baby,” she told the students.
  • Kimberly Moore called in to this edition of Talk of the Nation on NPR a few weeks ago. The guest was COPD patient and pulmonary rehabilitation supporter Grace Anne Dorney Koppel. Kim conveyed the importance of early screening, early diagnosis, and early education for COPD patients during her time on the air.
  • Pam Alley emphasizes the importance of education in controlling childhood asthma in this article in the Gaston County, NC, Gazette. “Through education and awareness, we can help parents and children know how to manage asthma,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Roland Romano’s smoking cessation classes are covered in this article on NorthJersey.com. The free program is aimed at providing attendees with information on what really works when trying to kick the habit.
  • Jane Martin is quoted in this article in ConsumerAffairs about the toll worry can take on a person’s life. “Physical responses to stress can involve the health of your heart and blood vessels, the function of your immune system, your breathing patterns, and how your body secretes hormones,” she was noting as having written in her column on HealthCentral.com.
