• RT student Alex Bachman-Williams is working full time as a therapist while completing her degree, holding on to a 4.0 GPA, and serving as a star player on her school’s soccer team. This article in the Bismarck, ND, Tribune chronicles her accomplishments on the playing field.

• Michele A. Grassi, Morfia-Joy Nunez, and Peter J. Hendriksen have been appointed to serve on the Florida Board of Respiratory Care, and the appointments were announced in this article in the Florida Current.

• Janyth Bolden’s new asthma clinic is covered in this issue of the Richmond Pulse and this article in the San Francisco, CA, Chronicle. “We’re opening up our community-based education to teach people in the community how to better manage their asthma through a series of classes,” Janyth was quoted as saying.

• Harry Roman’s Army/Navy RT program at Fort Sam Houston in Texas is highlighted in this article in the base’s News Leader. “Everybody wants to come to this course because they can get an associate degree and take the test and become a certified respiratory therapist,” Harry was quoted as saying.
  
  

• Term 4 students in Victoria Florentine’s RT program went all in when challenged to teach pediatric pulmonary function testing to Term 3 students, and the creative learning experience they came up with was covered in this article in the college newspaper.

• When the child care center at her hospital was scheduled to close, Tracy Hindle worked with several colleagues to keep the facility open. Their efforts were covered in this article in the Star Democrat out of Maryland. “Besides the proximity to the hospital, the flexible hours are great,” Tracy was quoted as saying. “This is huge for a lot of people, especially at the hospital where there are all kinds of shifts.”

• Brian Cayko receives great press in this article in the Great Falls, MT, Tribune for the great press he got recently on the AARC website. What did Brian do? He went above and beyond for his profession by making a 200 mile roundtrip in one day to meet with his member of Congress about HR 2619!  

• Dr. Jeffrey Elsberry talks up a pulmonary symposium being hosted by his college in conjunction with local health care providers in this article in the Naples, FL, Daily News. “This annual event always provides great opportunities for Respiratory Therapists, Cardiovascular Technologists, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants and Students to learn about the newest developments in their field,” he was quoted as saying.

• Brandi Wright urges people in her community to take advantage of tobacco cessation services offered through a new website set up in her area in this article in the La Porte, IN, Herald Argus. “We are non-judgmental and will work with the person when they are ready,” she was quoted as saying.

• Nancy Colletti’s RT program is noted for the success its graduates are having in finding jobs in this article in the Dayton, OH, Daily News. According to Nancy, everyone is employed within a year of graduating. Students Robert Ptacek and Danielle Kilburn show off some of their new skills in an accompanying photo.

• Herbert Jackson explains what’s involved in being an RT in this article in the Houston, TX, Chronicle. “Being a respiratory therapist is an opportunity to help others, to change lives for the better and, in some cases, to save lives,” he was quoted as saying.

• RT student Kyle Maniace has lived with cystic fibrosis all his life, and his mom Susan provides a glimpse of the care he’s required in this article in the Medina, NY, Daily News. “A lot of medicine, a lot of nebulizer treatments ... it’s just rigorous, rigorous treatment to keep them healthy,” she was quoted as saying.

• Tabatha Dragonberry is back in the news in this article in the Peoria, IL, Journal Star about her RT career path and how beginning at the community college level was right for her.  

• Edna Felix is featured in several photos in the Tri-City Herald out of Kennewick, WA, about a health-themed song and dance program she took part in at a local school.
