As we launch 2014, AARC’s online CRCE courses are more relevant and more focused on topics that matter most to you.

We added a Nutrition Guide leading to three free CRCEs in the last quarter of 2013, and our new Leadership Institute was launched this week.

Encompassing a series of modules in the areas of management, education, and research, the Institute is designed to provide therapists with the tools they need to step out of their comfort zones and achieve in new areas of the profession. “It’s a great program to prepare those who want to advance in their careers through management, education, and research opportunities,” says AARC Associate Executive Director-Education Shawna Strickland, PhD, RRT-NPS, AE-C, FAARC.

You can learn more about the Institute beginning on page 34 of your January issue of AARC Times, but rest assured it is just one of several new offerings coming your way in 2014. We’ll also be debuting a new asthma program and a smoking cessation guide for clinicians.

“The Tobacco Clinician Guide will provide basic training to respiratory therapists in providing tobacco dependence counseling to both inpatient and outpatient populations of all ages,” says Dr. Strickland. “The asthma course will refresh the respiratory therapist’s knowledge about asthma basics and provide an update on the evidence surrounding pharmacotherapy and asthma self-management.”

Our focus is to provide relevant and timely education for the respiratory therapist. A few of our older courses have been retired but we have a large offering of continuing education courses so you have plenty to choose from when it comes to upgrading your skills and earning the CRCE you need to maintain your license to practice.

“CRCE is a universal need for respiratory therapists. We need them for our state licenses, our credentials, and to increase our ability to provide excellent patient care,” says Dr. Strickland.

“We have 18 CRCEs available on our website that members can register for free of cost. And that doesn’t even include the live webcasts, live JournalCasts, and CRCE through the Journal that are available on a monthly basis.”
