AARC Member to Present at Patient Safety Summit

AARC member Patrick Dunne, MEd, RRT, FAARC, has joined a long list of distinguished individuals scheduled to present at the Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit coming up Jan. 11-13 in Laguna Niguel, CA—including former President Bill Clinton, who will deliver the keynote address.

The summit is being sponsored by the Patient Safety Movement, a nonprofit organization founded by Joe Kiani, founder, chairman and CEO of Masimo, one of the AARC’s Corporate Partners.

The overall goal of the organization is to confront the large scale problem of more than 200,000 preventable patient deaths in U.S. hospitals each year by providing actionable ideas and innovations that can transform the process of care, dramatically improve patient safety, and help eliminate patient preventable deaths.

Specific challenges to be addressed at the summit include:

• Healthcare Acquired Infections
• Creating a Culture of Safety
• Hand-off Communications

According to AARC CEO Tom Kallstrom, MBA, RRT, FAARC, the summit “fits right into our goals to reduce hospital readmissions through better care and better patient safety initiatives.”

Attendance at the summit was open to health-related professionals from across the spectrum, including RTs. The deadline to sign up was Dec. 15 and all the seats have now been taken, but you can still sign up for a waiting list that will be used should any of the attendees be unable to make the trip.
