Long-Term Care: We have three great articles in this edition. First up is a look at the Affordable Care Act and how it will impact our facilities. Next is story on the new GOLD guidelines and what we need to do to ensure our therapists and facilities are on board with them. And finally, we have a thoughtful piece on the need to stop thinking of nursing homes as “warehouses” for the elderly.

Management: Section Chair Bill Cohagen offers a look back at section activities in 2013 as well as a glimpse at what’s on the agenda for this year in his Notes column, and from there we have a couple of informative articles: the first addresses the multiple job applications facing some managers today while the second delves into various ways to measure the success of a pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Neonatal-Pediatrics: After an introductory Notes column from our new section chair, Natalie Napolitano, we have interesting articles on a teething treatment that may be doing babies more harm than good and the use of hypertonic saline for acute bronchiolitis.

Sleep: Sleep professionals will find plenty of need-to-know information in this edition, with articles addressing ways to increase your hospital-based sleep center’s revenue and patient screening for OSA.

Surface & Air Transport: Editor Steve Sittig kicks things off with a Notes column and also shares his recent experiences touring a transport program in Switzerland. From there we answer a member’s question about advanced credentialing and give everyone a heads up about a new survey coming their way. Rounding out the issue is a quick, six question quiz to test your knowledge.
