Members of the Long-Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport Sections can read the Fall issues of their Bulletins online now.

  • Long-Term Care: This issue kicks off with a look at a new accreditation program for facility based ventilator units and from there we have an informative article on why we should all be vaccinated against the flu and a thoughtful piece on end-of-life care.

  • Management: Outgoing Chair Bill Cohagen shares some parting thoughts in his Notes column and we also have a great article on customer satisfaction that could lead us all to rethink what it means to our departments. Bulletin Editor Roger Berg closes out the issue with an informative piece on the new law in California requiring the RRT exam for licensure.

  • Neonatal-Pediatrics: Section Chair Natalie Napolitano encourages members to attend AARC Congress 2014 in her Notes column and from there we have two interesting articles. The first focuses on breath stacking as an alternative lung recruitment method while the second takes a closer look at the utilization of advanced RRTs to handle pediatric PICC line placement.

  • Sleep: Section Chair Karla Smith covers the pre-course on Sleep & Wellness at AARC Congress 2014 in her Notes column and also provides a great overview of sleep-related problems in Marfan Syndrome patients. An interesting look at the role pulmonary rehabilitation may play in improving sleep quality in patients with chronic lung disease rounds out the issue.

  • Surface & Air Transport: Bulletin Editor Steve Sittig covers AARC Congress 2014 in his Notes column and also offers a look at a new membership benefit for those interested in patient safety, as well as a thoughtful piece on saying thanks to those who have made a difference in your life. The issue features an interesting article on a pig lungs lab that’s been presented with much success in a number of venues over the years as well, then ends with a quiz designed to test your knowledge of transport topics.
