Ric Perez, who is currently working toward an online bachelor’s degree, thoroughly agrees, noting his tuition expenses would be significantly lower if he could earn the degree through his local community college. 
  • Allison Gay has been named the Academic Excellence winner for 2014 by her college and she shares her decision to pursue a degree in RT in this article in the Jacksonville, NC, Daily News. “I have always known that I wanted to work in the medical field, but I had to search to find my niche,” she was quoted as saying. This feature story in the same publication delves even deeper into the RT student and why she was selected for this prestigious award.
  • Doug Masini touts the interdisciplinary approach to teaching taken in the health professions programs at his college in this article in the Savannah, GA, Morning News. He recently accompanied a group of students to the state capitol building, where they put on a demonstration using a human patient simulator.
  • Wendy Ayscue announces a new scholarship for RT students at her school in this article in the Greenville, NC, Reflector. The scholarship will go to a student with demonstrated financial need and is named after long time medical director Dr. Robert Shaw. “There simply aren’t enough words to express how thankful we are to have had his involvement with the program for more than 30 years now,” Wendy was quoted as saying.
  • Laura Huck is pictured trying on shoes during a local event aimed at raising funds for mental health issues in this article on THECITYWIRE.com. “This is a great opportunity because there’s not enough done in this area for mental health,” she was quoted as saying.
  • Ron Cothran is one of six people who CNN says will inspire us this year. Ron recently had gastric bypass surgery and is now preparing for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in September.   • Haley Wisontalks about a workshop she and a colleague are hosting for people with COPD in this article in the Elkins, WV, Inter-Mountain. "By attending this workshop patients and their family members will learn ways to keep their lungs healthy, how to monitor their condition, therapy choices and more," she was quoted as saying.
  • Debbie Shealy writes about COPD and the increased risk for depression that goes along with it in this article in the Marion, OH, Star. “Improving quality of life is the key to treating depression in COPD sufferers,” Debbie tells her readers. “Education is primary.”
