FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas, TX (December 17, 2012) —The American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF) honored Jinxiang Xi, PhD with the Monaghan Fellowship for Aerosol Technique Development at a recent award ceremony held in conjunction with the largest national meeting of respiratory therapists convened each year.

Xi, who serves as Assistant Professor at Central Michigan University in the college of science and technology earned his PhD in mechanical engineering in 2005 from Texas A&M University. The Aerosol Technique Development Fellowship is designed to support projects that develop cost-effective approaches to aerosol delivery. This fellowship was begun in 1993 with a grant from Monaghan Medical, a major international manufacturer and distributor of aerosol-related equipment.

Respiratory therapists are specialized health care providers who take care of people with lung conditions ranging from asthma to COPD. They work throughout the acute care hospital on the general wards, in the emergency department, and in the intensive care units, and are also increasingly employed in sleep centers, physician offices, outpatient clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, skilled nursing facilities, and patients’ homes.
