What is your vision of the AARC in 2015?
I see the AARC as a guiding force for the profession of respiratory care, a patient advocate for those living with pulmonary disease, a leader in pulmonary research and an active participant and sounding board on Capitol Hill for the development and reform of health care policy.
What have you done in the last 5 years to promote the profession in your community?
I have contributed to the education of the local community on asthma via the American Lung Association and the Northern Virginia Asthma Coalition. With the Northern Asthma Coalition, I developed the only asthma camp in the area. I have taken an active role in informing our elected officials at the state and national level about the profession of respiratory care and individual policy matters important to our profession and the patients we serve. I have been an active participant in the continuing education of respiratory therapists and nurses at local and national conferences.
