The American Heart Association has clarified that respiratory therapists are eligible to take ACLS and PALS courses as well as become an instructor. A collaborative call has resulted in a clear statement on the issue.

Mobile-Optimized RESPIRATORY CARE Launched
The new and enhanced RESPIRATORY CARE website is now optimized for easier viewing on ALL smartphones. Just enter www.rcjournal.com on your phone browser and the site will recognize your device and display the contents: current issue, archives of previous issues, papers in press, and search.

The Journal has introduced lots of new features over the past couple of months and they appear to be making an impact. Our Facebook page just topped 1,000 “likes”! Visit and add your “like” to the mix.

Keeping Up with Friends
Speaking of Facebook, AARC PACT member Ronda Bradley has been using it to connect with her members of Congress. By “friending” them, she can see when they’ll be where. That came in very handy last week when she was trying to firm up a Capitol Hill Lobby Day meeting with one Congressman. Our annual day on the Hill is still a few weeks away–March 12–but our Virtual Lobby Week starts March 1, so plan now to call or email your members of Congress in support of your PACT reps.

Blizzard Challenges
New England won’t soon forget the Blizzard of 2013, which barreled across their states over a week ago. Connecticut got the worst of it, and AARC member Mary Ann Couture shares what it was like to work under those conditions. See how she and her colleagues kept things running like clockwork–even when it meant a trip outdoors during the height of the storm.

Let AARC Times Know What You Want in 2014
AARC Times is planning its 2014 editorial calendar now, and AARC members are invited to submit ideas for clinical topics. Editor Marsha Cathcart posted a short blog with the details on AARConnect. Go weigh in with your ideas.
