Learn about Treating Tobacco Dependence
Michael C. Fiore, MD MPH MBA, an internationally recognized expert on
tobacco cessation, recorded a presentation earlier this week for the AARC's
Professor's Rounds series. Dr. Fiore has served as the chair of the panel
that produced the U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline:
Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence. His presentation, Effectively
Treating Tobacco Dependence: We Can Move the Mountain, challenges
the respiratory care community to play a more significant role in identifying
and assisting patients in tobacco cessation. The presentation also discussed
ways that the respiratory therapist can communicate with patients and
influence their decision to quit.
