AARC Times Wants Your Stories!
AARC Times is looking for member input on two topics:

  • First, we want to show off all the ways you are adding value to your organization, so tell us what makes you and/or your department stand out from the crowd, whether it’s managerial in scope or happening at the bedside.
  • Second, we want to hear about patients who have inspired you—you know, those special patients you’ll never forget because of the way they handled their disease, beat the odds, rose up to a challenging situation, or just touched your heart.

If you would like to share a story on one of these topics, sum it up in 300 words or less and email it to Debbie Bunch at DebBunch@aol.com by Fri., April 15. Be sure to include your full name and where you work. Sharing these stories will let everyone know how much respiratory care really does care!

Updated Competency Assurance Manual
The Orientation and Competency Assurance Documentation Manual for Respiratory Care, 2nd Edition, has just been released from the AARC. Updated for 2011, the manual provides an overview of the process and includes over 90 forms ready for immediate use in virtually every area of respiratory care. And it helps meet Joint Commission competency assessment and evaluation requirements. Visit the AARC Respiratory Catalog to order.

Let's Keep the Momentum Going!
The AARC PACT came back from their Capitol Hill Lobby Day on Mar. 8 with a bill number for our Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative in the House (HR 941). But we still need to get the legislation introduced into the Senate, so click on the link to learn more about it and then call or email your Senators and ask for their support.

April 6 Webcast Tackles Disruptive Behavior
We’ve all seen or heard about bad behavior among health care professionals. In next Wednesday’s webcast, David Gourley, MHA, RRT, FAARC, will review the topic in “Disruptive Behavior-A Threat to Patient Safety.” Sign up now to hear how in-fighting between the disciplines affects patient care and what the TJC and health care organizations are doing to stop it. Earn one FREE CRCE for attending the live session.

Good Press: AARC Members in the News
More great stories in this edition, including a TV spot on a member who recently underwent a new type of robotic surgery to get ready for a medical mission to Honduras.
