FREE CRCEs On the Way
A new opportunity to earn FREE CRCEs will be in your mailbox soon. The AARC has just mailed a booklet titled “Symptom Control in Patients with Chronic Respiratory Disease” to all members. Read the booklet and then go online to take a short post-test and earn four FREE continuing respiratory care education credits. The booklet is being supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Sepracor.


ACCP Asks Members to Support S 343/HR 1077
The AARC just received a big boost for its Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative, now pending in both houses of Congress as S 343/HR 1077. The American College of Chest Physicians is onboard with the legislation and has outlined its position to members in a new action alert.


AARC Activates Disaster Relief Fund
We’ve all been following the news about the extensive flooding and blizzards affecting people in North Dakota and Minnesota. At the AARC, we’re doing our part to help by activating our Disaster Relief Fund. If this natural disaster has impacted you, click on the link for more on how to apply for a grant of up to $500.


Federal Challenge Grants: Topics of Interest for RTs
The federal stimulus package includes big bucks for medical research, and the AARC wants to make sure all members are aware of the opportunities. To help, we’ve gone through the government documents and come up with a list of topics pertaining to respiratory care.


Association Supports Protection of Medical Patents
Patent reform legislation is considered a good thing, but the AARC and fellow organizations want to make sure lawmakers don’t go overboard and unduly curtail medical advances. We just signed on to a new letter to members of the influential Senate Judiciary Committee urging them to protect medically-related patents in their reform efforts.
