Michigan Licensure Threat Tops MSRC, AARC Agenda
A Michigan proposal to remove 18 professions from state licensure–including respiratory care–is meeting with stiff opposition from the Michigan Society for Respiratory Care. State society leaders are working closely with AARC government affairs staff now to educate Governor Rick Snyder on the serious consequences that could occur should Michigan take this major step backward. Michigan RTs are encouraged to contact the governor directly with their support for continued licensure of respiratory therapists in the state.

AARC Board Acts on 2015 and Beyond
The AARC Board of Directors has passed a motion to accept the direction for the future of health care outlined in the “Creating a Vision for Respiratory Care in 2015 and Beyond” report. The report grew out of the 2015 and Beyond conferences that began in 2007 to explore future directions for the respiratory care profession.


AARC Learns of DOL Portal Site
AARC has been made aware of a new portal for health care jobs launched by the Department of Labor. “Respiratory Therapist” is among the careers that are featured on the site.


AHRQ Seeking Input on Draft Report
AARC members are being urged to weigh in with comments on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Draft User’s Guide research report. Part of the agency’s Effective Health Care Program, the report is aimed at answering a set of questions that will help ensure research remains focused on findings that patients, clinicians, and health care policymakers need to make good decisions. The document is available for comment now through June 8.
