AARC Adds Third Checklist to Arsenal
A new checklist developed by AARC to identify patients at greatest risk of readmission to the ICU is now available for free download to members. The Adult Risk Assessment Checklist for ICU Readmission is the third in a series of checklists developed by the AARC.

Meeting Message: Health Care is a Team Sport
AARC leaders participated in a meeting last week aimed at helping to define future directions for health care. Hosted by the American Organization of Nursing Executives and the Human Resources Section of the American Hospital Association, the session focused on the need for all health care professionals to play on the same team. The AARC was one of eight key groups invited to take part.

Simplification of HIPAA Privacy Rule Supported by Patients
A focus group study conducted by the National Health Council (NHC) finds patients are on board with changing the HIPAA Privacy Rule to make it easier for medical researchers to conduct records-based trials. Right now, the rule requires researchers to obtain continual re-authorizations to use medical records in research studies, and that’s slowing down the research process. The AARC is a long-time member of the NHC.

June 15 is Day of the Deadlines!
If you weren’t able to get your abstract for this year’s OPEN FORUM at AARC Congress 2012 in by the June 1 deadline, no worries! We’ve extended the deadline to June 15.

June 15 is also the last day to participate in the AARC URM survey on time standards for the Uniform Reporting Manual update, and apply for ARCF education awards.
