August Webcasts Zero in on Post Acute Care
Post acute care is taking center stage in our August webcasts. Next Wednesday’s session will tackle “New Value-Added Roles for RTs in Long Term Acute Care Hospitals,” and our Aug. 14 program will cover “The Future of the Respiratory Therapist in Homecare.” Both of these informative programs will bring you up-to-date on the latest opportunities for respiratory therapists in post acute care settings, and the home care webcast will specifically address the challenges inherent in competitive bidding as well. Attend the live sessions and earn one FREE CRCE for each.

AARC Congress 2012: Egan, Kittredge Lecturers Announced
The premier lectures at any AARC Congress are the Donald F. Egan and Phil Kittredge Memorial Lectures, and we just learned who the speakers will be for 2012. Stefano Nava, MD, a pioneer in noninvasive ventilation from Italy, will deliver the Egan, provocatively titled “Behind a Mask: Tricks, Pitfalls and Prejudices for Noninvasive Ventilation—‘You are Wearing a Mask and You Look Better that Way’ Iggy Pop (the Mask).” In the Kittredge, Timothy Myers, RRT-NPS, will explain how and why respiratory therapists need to pay more attention to opportunities in post acute care in a presentation called “Thinking Outside the Box: Moving the Profession Beyond the Hospital Walls.”

The entire advance program will be out soon, so stay tuned to the AARC website for the announcement. In the meantime, get a jump on things and register for the meeting today! AARC Congress 2012 will take place Nov. 10–13 in New Orleans, LA.

PPUSA is Your Ticket into Your Local Schools
The kids still have a few more weeks of summer vacation, but in many parts of the country teachers and staff are already gearing up for the new year, and that means now is a great time to begin contacting your local schools to ensure school-based asthma management is on their radar screens. Our Peak Performance USA program has everything you need to connect with schools in your area and assist them in bringing asthma education into the classroom.

Let Your Pictures Tell the Story
AARC members have until Oct. 1 to enter their pictures in the 2012 AARC Times Photo Contest, so get your cameras out and start snapping some great pictures of your patients and/or RT colleagues in action. Finalists in the competition will receive a free one year membership renewal and have their photos entered into the running for our big prize—the cover of the Feb. 2013 edition of the magazine! Rules and regulations are on the link.
