New Legislation Offers Hope to Pulmonary Rehab Programs
Legislation just introduced into Congress would overturn a strict CMS interpretation of the pulmonary rehab law that’s hurting programs around the country. Specifically, CMS is requiring pulmonary and cardiac rehab programs to be directed only by physicians. HR 6376 would allow these programs to be overseen by non-physician practitioners such as physician assistants and nurse practitioners as well. Click on the link to read more about it and write your members of Congress in support.

Benefit Expansion May Spell Opportunities for RTs
CMS is expanding its smoking cessation counseling benefit, and the upshot for RTs may be greater opportunities to reach more Medicare patients with smoking cessation services in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
