Non-Invasive Monitoring & The Respiratory Therapist: A New Era!

During the past 20 years, technological advancements in non-invasive monitoring have equipped the respiratory therapist with devices that are capable of obtaining a variety of biological measurements that, in the past, could only be obtained with invasive or complex procedures. This presentation will review some of the most important measurements that are directly related to a patient's oxygenation and ventilation. Attendees will learn about existing and new technology that can improve their ability to care of their patients in critical and non-critical areas of patient care.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the importance of functional hemoglobin in oxygenating the body.
- Review the various methods for monitoring dyshemoglobin and total hemoglobin.
- Review the currently available methods of non-invasively monitoring a patient's spontaneous ventilation.
