This year’s Educator Academy is a sequel to the Educator Academy presented at the 2008 AARC International Respiratory Congress that addressed the admissions process.

The Role of the Interview in Program Admissions

Addresses the interview and its role in the admissions process. Provides a comprehensive review of the literature related to the role and value of the interview in the selection of candidates for health care professions.

3:00 P.M.–3:50 P.M.

Successful Implementation of Interviews for Student Selection

Janelle Gardiner MS RRT, Ogden UT

Presents the various formats for conducting the interview (structured versus unstructured, group versus individual), use of writing samples/essays, selection of interviewers, and the evaluation of candidates during and after the interview. The various interviewing forms and techniques will be addressed with a view to the advantages and disadvantages of various formats.

Panel Discussion: Sharing Lessons Learned
